Councilmember Hall hosts H4WP Walking Tours, March 19th

ATLANTA -- Be sure to join City Councilmember Kwanza Hall and City Watershed Commissioner Dexter White for coffee, donuts and walking tours of Phase I of Historic Fourth Ward Park on Saturday, March 19th at 10AM.  

Neighbors should meet at the Dallas Street entrance to the park, near the AMLI Old Fourth Ward Apartments, which are located at 525 Glen Iris Drive. Coffee and donuts will be donated by Sublime Doughnuts.

ATLANTA – (submitted by the Atlanta Beltline) Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. is developing a strategy to implement transit for the Atlanta BeltLine. In 2012, voters in the Atlanta region will be given the opportunity to approve a 1% sales tax for transit and transportation projects. Atlanta BeltLine, Inc.

Historic Fourth Ward Park (H4WP) Opens Along BeltLine

ATLANTA – The construction fences are down and the new O4W Park is ready for visitors. This park is the first addition to open along the newly renovated Beltline.

Historic Fourth Ward Park (H4WP) is a 35-acre Atlanta green space stretching roughly from North Avenue to Freedom Parkway. It is the first new Atlanta Beltline Park. Its first phase of construction, consisting of a stormwater detention pond that will become the central amenity of the larger park, broke ground on October 15, 2008.

ATLANTA -- (Atlanta Beltline) The Atlanta BeltLine Partnership offers a free, narrated bus tour of the Atlanta BeltLine on Friday and Saturday mornings at 9:30 a.m.  Climb aboard the BeltLine tour bus and sit back to learn about the Atlanta BeltLine concept and history; to hear details and updates regarding project planning, implementation and development; and to witness first-hand the transformative effect the project will have on Atlanta BeltLine neighborhoods and the City of Atlanta.  As thousands of Atlantans have experienced for themselves, there is simply no better way to learn about the Atlanta BeltLine than to take a tour!

Oysterfest at Park Tavern

ATLANTA – On Saturday, February 12th, Park Tavern on Piedmont Park will be hosting their popular annual event "Oysterfest" from noon until midnight. This event, presented by Spiral Entertainment, is a day-long, outdoor, oyster-shucking experience that attracts thousands of festival goers, each year. The event features music from local bands, DJs, ice cold beer, spirits, Bloody Mary bar and tons of fresh fried, steamed and raw Blue Point oysters from Connecticut and Malpeque oysters from Prince Edward Island in Canada.

Tickets to Oysterfest are on sale for $15 but the price will increase. Admission does not include food or drinks, however, it does guarantee your attendance at what some call, “The hottest ticket in town”.

Bands to perform include: Life and Limb; Abbey Road, a Beatles Tribute Band and Block Party, an 80’s cover band.

City of Atlanta Solid Waste Services Resume Friday, January 14, 2011

ATLANTA --- The Department of Public Works will resume collection of household garbage on Friday, January 14, 2011.  Route collections have been delayed due to hazardous road conditions and limited access to our transfer stations. We will work through the weekend to ensure completion of household garbage citywide as follows:

  • Friday, January 14, 2011 - Sunday, January 16, 2011
    Household Garbage Collection Resumes Citywide
  • Monday, January 17, 2011
    No collections due to M L King, Jr.

Solid Waste Collection Delayed Until Roads Improve

The City of Atlanta desires to keep you informed.  Please be advised that Solid waste collections are delayed due to hazardous road conditions and limited access to our solid waste transfer stations. 

The Department of Public Works will begin collection of routes as road conditions improve. We will work to ensure completion of citywide collection.  Yard trimming collections are delayed until further notice. All route collections are dependent upon weather conditions and accessibility.
