The City of Atlanta Office of Planning is preparing to launch Round 3 of community meetings for the 2011 Comphrehensive Development Plan (CDP).  Share your thoughts, your insight, your vision for Atlanta's future and your neighborhood. 

Atlanta non-profits, civic and community groups, neighborhood associations, citizens and businesses are invited to attend the various community meetings planned in locations throughout the city. 

All meetings are from 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M.

ATLANTA – Earlier today, select Atlanta youth had the opportunity to meet with city leaders during a lunch and learn session at 11 a.m.

ATLANTA, Ga. – Carter Presidential Library is hosting a special reading and book signing for Award-winning reporter, Del Quentin Wilber on April 21.

In his book “Rawhide Down”, Wilber illustrates a “fascinating” story about the day President Ronald Reagan was shot and nearly killed walking to his limousine after a speech at the Washington Hilton.

The reading and book signing are free and open to the public. No reservations are needed. Acappella Books will be selling copies of Rawhide Down at the reading.

Councilmember Hall hosts H4WP Walking Tours, March 19th

ATLANTA -- Be sure to join City Councilmember Kwanza Hall and City Watershed Commissioner Dexter White for coffee, donuts and walking tours of Phase I of Historic Fourth Ward Park on Saturday, March 19th at 10AM.  

Neighbors should meet at the Dallas Street entrance to the park, near the AMLI Old Fourth Ward Apartments, which are located at 525 Glen Iris Drive. Coffee and donuts will be donated by Sublime Doughnuts.

Round Two Community Development Plan Meetings Get Underway in March

Would you like to see more retail districts, parks or pedestrian-friendly options in your community?  Would you like to give your input on how much industrial land is set aside where you live or work?  The City of Atlanta is inviting non-profits, civic and community groups, neighborhood associations, citizens and businesses to attend the March 2011 community meetings for the City of Atlanta Community Development Plan (CDP) that begins March 1. 

Nearly 200 attendees participated in the first round of 2011 CDP community meetings and had an opportunity to give input on the future plans for their Atlanta neighborhoods.  The Department of Planning and Community Development’s Office of Planning has announced it is hosting the second round of CDP community meetings. All meetings are from 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M., with the exception of the March 10th meeting, which is from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

The City of Atlanta Office of Planning is working with all citizens, businesses and community groups in the development of the 2011 Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP).  You're invited to attend any of the first round of meetings of the 2011 CDP to share your vision for Atlanta and to discuss issues and opportunities, as we work to develop a blueprint for city growth and development. Community meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m. and meeting dates are as follows:

  • Feb. 3, 2011 - Adamsville Recreation Center, 365 Cleveland Ave., SE
  • Feb. 7, 2011 - Hillside Facility, 1301 Monroe Drive, NE
  • Feb. 10, 2011 - Martha Brown UMC, 468 Moreland Ave.
  • Feb. 15, 2011 - Trinity Presbyterian Church, 3003 Howell Mill Rd., NW, Room B-110

State of the Union Viewing Party at Java Vino

ATLANTA-- Volunteers with Organizing for America will gather at Java Vino, 579 N. Highland Ave., Atlanta, Tuesday, January 25, 2011, 8:30 p.m.  to watch President Obama deliver his State of the Union address.  The watch party  is one of many planned across Georgia and the country. OFA supporters will use the State of the Union to have a broad discussion on the President’s agenda to strengthen the middle class, continue the economic recovery, and improve the tone of civil discourse. Volunteers will also discuss and plan ways in which they can continue supporting the President’s agenda and protect the progress the country has made the last two years.
