ATLANTA -- It still feels like summer outside, but that doesn't mean it's too early to start thinking about a holiday-themed race.

In fact, many of the runs are happening sooner than you may believe.

Take a look at some of the upcoming 5Ks, 10Ks and more in metro Atlanta. Many of them raise money for worthwhile seasonal causes.

Saturday, Sept. 15
5K Stocking Scurry & 1-Mile Fun Run, Gainesville
Christmas begins three months early with this 5K and fun run. The races raise money for Hall County's chapter of the Empty Stocking Fund, which provides Christmas surprises for children in need.
Time: 8:30 a.m. (fun run); 9 a.m. (5K)
Location: Town View Plaza shopping center (308 Bradford Street South)
Cost: $15 (fun run); $20 (5K) until Sept. 1, $25 after; register no later than Sept. 1 to be guaranteed a T-shirt

Saturday, Sept. 22
Run from the Cops, Carrollton
This 5K and 1-mile fun run raise money for Cops, Kids and Christmas, which allows the Carrollton Fraternal Order of Police to purchase holiday presents for needy children in the community.
Time: 7:30 a.m. (fun run); 8 a.m. (5K)
Location: East Carrollton Recreation Center (401 North Lake Drive)
Cost: $25; register no later than Sept. 10 to be guaranteed a T-shirt

Cobb Christmas 5K Dasher, Marietta

This fun race on the Marietta Square benefits Cobb Christmas, which helps low-income families during the holiday season. Events include a 5K, 1K and Tot Trot.
Time: 7:30 a.m. (5K); 8:15 a.m. (1K); 8:30 a.m. (Tot Trot)

Saturday, Nov. 3
Holiday Haulin' 5K/1-Mile Fun Run, Mansfield
This 5K and fun run raise money for Operation Christmas Child, which hopes to deliver its 100 millionth box to a needy child this holiday season.
Time: 7:30 a.m. (fun run); 8 a.m. (5K)
Location: Mansfield Baptist Church (101 Woodlawn Road)
Cost: $12 (fun run); $20 (5K); $25 (both races); register no later than Oct. 15 to be guaranteed a T-shirt

Sunday, Nov. 11
Lanier Under the Lights 5K, Buford
Enjoy the beautiful Magical Nights of Lights displays at Lake Lanier Islands Resort as you run in support of Toys for Tots. Race registration will close when it reaches 1,800 runners, so sign up as soon as you can.
Time: 5:45 p.m.

Friday, Nov. 16
Holiday Harvest 5K, Winder
This evening race benefits Holiday Connection, a "gift house" for Barrow County families that need help providing Christmas for their children.
Time: 7 p.m.
Location: Winder-Barrow High School (272 North 5th Avenue)

Sunday, Nov. 18
Run! Foster! Run!, Kennesaw
This first annual race benefits the Cobb County Foster & Adoptive Parents Association, which provides presents for local foster children at Christmastime and supports them throughout the year.
Time: 8 a.m.

Saturday, Dec. 8
Jingle Jog, Dunwoody
Strap some jingle bells onto your shoes and join one of Atlanta's biggest Christmas races. This popular event features a 5K, 1K and Elf Run, and also collects toys for the Salvation Army.
Time: 8 a.m. (5K); 8:05 a.m. (1K); 8:50 a.m. (Elf Run)
Location: Perimeter Mall (4400 Ashford Dunwoody Road)
Cost: $18 for runners ages 9 and under, $24 for everyone else until Dec. 7; $21 for runners ages 9 and under, $27 for everyone else on race day

Peachtree Corners Christmas 10K | 5K, Peachtree Corners

Run a festive race in one of metro Atlanta's newest cities. The 10K, 5K and 1-mile fun run raise money for the programs helped by Simpsonwood United Methodist Church.
Time: 9 a.m.
Location: Simpsonwood UMC (4500 Jones Bridge Circle)
Cost: $20 (fun run); $30 (10K and 5K) until Dec. 12, $35 after, $40 on race day

Atlanta Christmas 5K, Virginia-Highland

Formerly known as the Virginia-Highland Christmas 5K, this is one of Atlanta's favorite holiday races. Registration is limited to 1,500 runners, so sign up soon!
Time: 8:30 a.m.
Location: Fire Station No. 19 (1063 North Highland Avenue)
Cost: $30 until Oct. 1, $35 after; registration closes no later than Dec. 11
