Neighborhood SHOcase Kicks Off Saturday, April 28 at the Georgia International Convention Center

Renowned Author Michael Eric Dyson is the featured speaker along with an appearance by CNN Housing Expert Clyde Anderson

Fulton County’s Housing and Human Services Department along with development partners, APD Solutions and Atlanta Neighborhood Development Partnership, Inc. (ANDP), will kick off the Neighborhood SHOcase this Saturday, April 28, 2012. The free daylong event will feature Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) homes for sale, homebuyer education sessions, vendors offering products and services to prospective Fulton County homebuyers, existing homeowners and entertainment.

The SHOcase will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the Georgia International Convention Center (GICC) Exhibit Hall D located at 2000 Convention Center Concourse in College Park.   Participants will have access to more than 60 vendors comprised of Realtors, Lenders, Housing Counseling Agencies, contractors, Local Neighborhood Associations, and many more.

Education headliners include renowned Author Michael Eric Dyson who will serve as the keynote speaker.  Additionally, CNN Housing Expert Clyde Anderson who can be seen on CNN Weekend Newsroom’s “Take it to the Bank” will provide Financial Housing Education Information to SHOcase participants.   Featured workshops include, but are not limited to, Show Me the Money – Mortgage Financing, Fair Housing – It is Your Right and Finding a Home that Fits You.  The entertainment lineup consists of Master of Ceremony Hank Stewart an inspirational speaker and poet, and Recording Artists The Rude Boys, Angie B and Atlanta’s own Rhonda Thomas.

The SHOcase is a Special Homeownership Opportunity (SHO) event designed to introduce vendors, resources, and valuable information to qualified homebuyers interested in becoming homeowners. Most of the NSP homes available for sale are move-in ready and have new home fixtures, appliances, flooring, carpeting, and other desired amenities.  These homes have been fully rehabbed because of funding received from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).  Fulton County is offering homebuyer assistance for eligible families (up to $25,000) who purchase NSP homes.

Interested families can visit www.fultoncountyga.gov  or www.HomeByRequest.com to view the nearly 60 homes featured in the SHOcase and to begin the five simple steps in the SHOcase process.  The event is FREE to the public. Parking is $10.00 at GICC; however, MARTA bus lines and rail service are available.  If you are in need of additional information about the event or to pre-register, call 1-877-484-6669.
