ATLANTA -- It is a familiar icon in Atlanta's Poncey-Highland neighborhood, but the Plaza Theatre may be in imminent danger of closing.
The theater, which has non-profit status, suffers from lack of funding, according to owners Jonathan and Gayle Rej. Upcoming digital conversions, upgrades and the lagging economy mean the venue needs more money to stay afloat.

"We're currently working on grants and possible sponsors, but that will take some time," Jonathan Rej said in a statement, adding that he and Gayle are pouring their personal assets into the theater, but it still isn't enough.
